Pac’s Life Album Info: (from HipHopDOA.com)

Pac’s Life is the 5th posthumously released album from the 2Pac, commemorating the ten-year anniversary of his death. It was released November 21, 2006, in the USA, on Amaru Entertainment and Interscope Records. The album debuted at #9 on the Billboard 200 charts with 159,000 units sold in the U.S in its first week. The album has since sold over 400,000 copies as of June 2007, with current estimates at around 500,000. The album also sold moderately well worldwide, although exact sales figures are unknown.

To help promote the album and to celebrate of the release of Pac’s Life, a week of events was introduced. It kicked off on Saturday (November 11) at the Vaknin Gallery with “All Eyez On Me: Hip Hop’s Legendary Performers And Photographers,” where photographers displayed their material. On the following Tuesday, at the same venue, a VIP party previewing Pac’s Life took place from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM. The events were then shifted to the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts (TASCA) where coat drives were held on Wednesday, November 15 and Friday, November 17. Everyone who brought a winter coat received two admission tickets to the Pac’s Life album release party. On Monday (November 20), a “Pac’s Life Teen Art” competition took place from 6-8 PM, where children ages 13-17 competed in an art exhibit contest.

A broad range of artists contributed lyrically to the album, including Ashanti, T.I., Krayzie Bone (of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony), Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Papoose, Keyshia Cole, Carl Thomas, Jamal Woolard, Anthony Hamilton, Chamillionaire, Lil’ Scrappy, Big Syke, Young Buck, and Outlawz, including a posthumous appearance by Yaki Kadafi. This resulted in many of the artists who originally appeared on the tracks been removed, making way for more “modern” rappers and performers.

The producers who worked with Tupac on the original recordings of the tracks on this album were all replaced, with Amaru deciding in favour of more “modern” producers. This resulted in recognised 2Pac producer’s Johnny J, and Daz Dillenger been replaced by the likes of Swizz Beatz, L.T. Hutton and Sha Money XL. Again, as with Loyal To The Game, this was a move that angered Tupac loyalists. ……….. [Read more: 2PAC – "PAC’S LIFE" ALBUM LYRICS & INFO]
