Loyal To The Game Album Info: (HipHopDOA.com)

Loyal to the Game is Tupac Shakur’s (2Pac) 4th posthumous album. The album was first released in the United Kingdom on December 12, 2004 through Amaru Entertainment and Interscope Records. Two days later the album was released in the United States. The album contains remixes of previously unreleased music recorded by Tupac between the years of 1991-1994.

Loyal to the Game was produced by Eminem. According to an interview with MTV, Eminem was so moved by Tupac’s life and work that he wrote a letter to Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, asking her to consider letting him produce the next Tupac album. Afeni agreed and gave Eminem the go ahead to be executive producer for Loyal To The Game.

When compared to previous Tupac album’s, Eminem used various unusual production techniques during the creation of this album. Namely modifying the pace and pitch of Tupac’s voice to better suit the beats produced, rather than working his beats around Tupac’s recorded vocals. There was also various uses of the cutting and pasting of Pac’s vocals to produce an effect of him “rapping” new words now synonymous with current rap culture. An Example of such is on “Out On Bail” where Tupac appears to shout out “Em” (referring to Eminem) instead of “LG”, the original producer of the track. On other tracks Tupac is remixed to give “shout outs” to G-Unit and Obie Trice. Such actions undertaken by Eminem were not well received with Tupac’s legions of loyal fans.

As well as some disagreements from fans regarding Eminem’s production method’s, the fact that the album featured a broad range of artists, most of which Tupac had never worked with was also met with discontent by some. The inclusion of vocals from 50 Cent, Young Buck, Lloyd Banks and Obie Trice, (who had never worked with Tupac, but at the time were all affiliated with Eminem’s record label) was seen as Eminem using Tupac’s album to promote his own artist roster. The album did feature regular Tupac collaborators too however, with the likes of Nate Dogg, E.D.I. Mean, Kastro, Big Syke, DJ Quik, & Young Noble appearing.

Despite some controversy surrounding the release, Loyal To The Game proved successful in the charts in various contries. In the US Loyal To The Game debuted on the Billboard 200 album chart at number one with sales of over 330,000 copies in its first week. The album also topped the U.S. Top ………..
