Better Dayz is Tupac’s third solo album to be posthumously released. It is the fifth posthumus release including the 2Pac: Greatest Hits compilation release, and the Still I Rise album with his rap group The Outlawz. Better Dayz was released on November 26, 2002 in the US, on Amaru Entertainment & Death Row Records, through Interscope Records.
This album is the second double album which consists of a collection of unreleased material and remixed songs from Tupac’s “Makaveli” period while signed to Death Row Records, with his previous album, Until The End of Time, been the first. The album also features many tracks with production by longtime Tupac producer and friend Johnny “J”. The likes of Daz Dillinger, Jazze Pha, Frank Nitty, and E.D.I. of Outlawz also produce songs on the album. Better Dayz features a massive 23 unreleased recordings including remixes from the period of 1995-1996 along with some of Tupac’s input for the album before his fatal shooting.
“Thugz Mansion” was the first single to be released from the album on January 17, 2002. On the album there are 2 versions of this song. The original version was rapped over two acoustic guitars. The other acoustic version features a verse from fellow rapper Nas. It is the second-to-last track in Disc 1 of Better Dayz. The 7″ Remix version, which is the version that was released as the albums first single, features singer Anthony Hamilton, and is included as track 2 of disc 2 of Better Dayz.
